Yoga practice helps kids eat Veggies!

I just received this awesome email in my inbox last night. I teach Joey (PK) and Jack (3rd grade) yoga at their school. I also teach their mother (Meredith) during our staff class after school. This is how your family dinner could go if you inspire and empower your children to remember to breath!

“ Thought you would enjoy our yoga tale of the day….

Joey got upset at dinner (I dared to make him eat veggies) and Jack suggested he try some yoga breathing.  Joey left the room, did child’s pose, calmed down and came back to the table calm and ready to eat.  FREAKING fabulous.  Thank you!

Oh yeah – and my back feels much better!

Best Letter Ever!

Last week I finished teaching a 16-class Mindfulness Course to a 2nd grade classroom. On my last day working with them I was given a stack of insanely cute and awesome letters. Imagine a world where every student was learning to be in control of themselves!

Kale Chips – stupidly easy to make!

What you need:

  1. Kale (organic is cleaner, but no need. Your body, your choices)
  2. Olive oil
  3. Sea salt

When it comes to food, Kale is just about as healthy as you can go. Loaded with Vitamins A, C, and K and minerals magnesium, calcium, and iron. Feeling healthy and strong yet? I am not done. Kale has fiber and protein in it too. Basically it is a one stop shop in terms of health. It is a dark leafy green, meaning the more you eat the better…. well, that is until you eat too much! But dark leafy greens essentially do the same thing in your body that they do outside on trees. Take in your CO2 and send out Oxygen. So bring on the respiratory health and breath freely from the inside out with some good old kale.

Ps. Don’t skip that olive oil step! That fat helps you digest all those goodies.
